MOSS AGATE
A personal favourite of mine!
WHAT IS IT?
Moss Agate is a form of Chalcedony! It is formed of Silicon Dioxide and includes variations of metallic materials that give that green, (or red/grey/blue/orange), colouration and mossy appearance! The concentration of colour varies, to a solid green filled mossy cavern, to light, elegant branches, that come to life when light is introduced! Although known as Moss Agate, it technically doesn't fall into the Agate category, unlike Botswana Agate or Carnelian.
IS THERE ACTUALLY MOSS INSIDE?
As much a wonderful thing this would be, unfortunately, no. The mossy appearance inside, is made usually from metals, like that of Iron. You can find Fossilised Moss but, it's nowhere near as beautiful as Moss Agate... sorry Nature!
WHERE CAN IT BE FOUND?
Moss Agate is quite a common material and can be found in several different parts of the world. Known locations are, Western USA, India, Brazil, Europe and Uruguay! But,
more unique colours, are harder to find!
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES?
A perfect stone for gardener's and lovers of nature, as this stone is known to give, 'Green Fingers'! It draws us closer to nature. Moss Agate is also a very tranquil stone, aiding in our emotional balance, especially when feeling overwhelmed or aggressive! It is said that this mossy goodness, can help us build up a strong immune system, in order to better fight off infections and colds!
